Officially in the USA. Sopilki / flutes of the most famous master from Ukraine Taras Loshak. Our fluete sounded at the Eurovision Song Contest . They are used by many popular ethnic musicians of the big stages as KAZKA, ONUKA etc...
Taras is the only flute maker in the third generation.
Folding sopilka with tuning, prima, chromatic, ordinary, C major, soprano, ten holes
Junction points are reinforced with metal rings (copper, stainless steel, brass). Thanks to the use of specially
treated cork wood, a "tight" connection is provided and sopilka is practically never “overdried”.
The thickening in the upper part of sopilka provides a more stable ringing sound than in the usual Demenchuk
(melnytska) sopilka.
Made by combining different types of wood: hornbeam, pear, maple, walnut, that gives sopilka a unique
“voice”.
The wood comes from hand-cut trees in the Pre-Carpathian territory of Ukraine, namely Dolyna district, Ivano-
Frankivsk region. The material is naturally dried and kept from 8 to 25 years, then boiled on firewood in a
special mixture of food alkane hydrocarbons and sunflower oil for 48 hours and then dried for half a year on a
“warm floor”.
Coated with special alcoholic (food alcohol) mixture of eastern tree resin (used in Indian alcohol industry as a
thickener of wines, liqueurs, etc.), cherry resin and hedge of pine and spruce. We do not use any modern
varnishes in production.
Small pipe (special insert on the side of sopilka where one blows) is made of extremely water-proof wood
specially treated to hold off liquid
Tuning is conducted with the help of a computer digital tuner.
Polishing is done 3-4 times with sanding clothes having different grit size. Then sopilka is put away for two
weeks and after that is polished again 2-3 times with a fine grit cloth. The final polishing is done with a hand to
make it smooth all over.
